MasTec Appoints Austin Shanfelter President and CEO

MIAMI, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ) today announced it has appointed Austin Shanfelter president and chief executive officer. Mr. Shanfelter has been the Company's chief operating officer since March 2000 and had previously served as president of MasTec's Broadband Network Services group since 1997.

Mr. Shanfelter has extensive experience in the industry. He founded Shanco Corporation, a cable television infrastructure provider in 1985 which MasTec acquired in 1997. Mr. Shanfelter has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Power and Communications Contractors Association (PCCA), an industry trade group, since 1993. He is also the Chairman of the Cable Television Contractors Council of the PCCA.

Mr. Shanfelter replaces Joel-Tomas Citron who has decided to step down as director, president and chief executive officer in order to spend more time with his family. Mr. Citron will remain in a consulting capacity to support the management transition. Chairman Mas stated, "The Board would like to thank Joel for his many contributions at MasTec.
